As March Madness has concluded and Easter has pasted. The hottest ticket in town is at the Garden because its Playoff time. 2011 NHL Champions return to the ice. The Boston Bruins get ready to defend their NHL World Championship this Thursday, April 12th against the Washington Capital at the TD Bank North Garden. Last season ended with the Bruins riding off into the sunset as champions. This year though, the Bruins are no longer carry the underdog card but are favorites to win the title once again. As a Boston sports fan, the city has enjoyed the recent success from the Boston sports teams. In the last 6 years Boston sports teams have won 3 championships, and have 6 title game appearances. There is pressure is for the Bruins to do well. Brad Marchand, a writer on ESPN Boston and winger on the Bruins said it best,
“Obviously we want to win again. Hopefully we can make that happen. It’s funny, when you’re in a town like Boston, you’re expected to win every year and the pressure is there every year. There’s a ton of pressure right now to repeat from the city. As I said, hopefully we can make that happen for them. We’ll see. Repeating is obviously a very tough thing to do. We definitely have our hands full.”
These playoffs are not different. As anything but a championship at the end of the season will be catastrophic disaster. Although who can forget Boston is and always will be the City of Champions.
