According to The Washington Post, the Virginia Senate passed a bill Monday afternoon that would allow private adoption agencies to discriminate against same-sex parents.
The bill (SB 349) allows private adoption agencies to deny adoption privileges to couples whose moral and religious beliefs do not coincide with their own, which could include beliefs against homosexuality.
North Dakota currently is the only state in the nation that allows discrimination by private adoption agencies.
The law passed in the Senate, 22-18.
The Governor is expected to sign the bill into law.
The state should not be sanctioning discrimination against gay couples. Get it together, Virginia.
